At your salvation you are born into the family of God. God actually became your Heavenly Father and you are His child. Many Christians have been taught to look at Jesus a lawyer that goes between them and God but this view lessens the relationship of family. You can always go directly to your Father because you have a birth certificate and not a contract. You don’t need a lawyer but you do need an intercessor and a helper.
